Here is my problem: I have a limited, albeit significant, amount of time I have dedicated to dA every day. Most recently, I have done away with self-promotion as I don't submit my own photographs to groups anymore. In fact, I am uploading far fewer photos than in the past. Why? Because given the limited amount of time I have every day to spend on dA, I have decided to spend that time watching, faving, commenting, and critiquing others' work.
But that's still not enough time! Every day, I have an average of 100-200 photos in my inbox coming from my various watches and groups.
And here is why I'm writing this journal. Tonight, actually last night, I realized with this image
that I was skimming over, and potentially missing, some really high quality images. Let's face it, given the amazingly large number of photos to review everyday, the amount of time I have to devote to each is becoming ridiculous small. I must confess that I even have to resort to, especially when my internet connection slows, reviewing photos by only inspecting thumbnails. What a disgrace and travesty! But on top of that, I'm the biggest looser, missing out on you guys' amazing work!
As a photographer, I am growing, maturing, changing. While I remember not long ago really digging the in-your-face street photos a la Bruce Gilden, today, my photographic appetite is satisfied with more subtle images. So here is my problem. How do I make sure to spend enough time on each photo so that I have a chance to appreciate the more subtle and satisfying characteristics of an image and still go though my stack???
Here are some examples of images that I personally find absolutely stunning. I haven't checked but I'm pretty sure that all these photos were uploaded in the last week or two. Please, take you time inspecting each and everyone of them:
